About

A reference, not a magazine.

Brewing.net exists because most brewing calculators give you a number and never tell you how they got it. Every calculator here names the published model it ran, so if another site disagrees you can see why rather than guess.

Style vital statistics are the ranges published in the BJCP 2021 Style Guidelines. Numbers are facts and carry no copyright, so they appear here with attribution. The descriptions are written for this site: the guidelines’ own prose is copyrighted and is not reproduced or paraphrased line by line. Anyone brewing to a competition specification should read the guidelines themselves.

Hop alpha acid and yeast attenuation are ranges for a reason. They move with the crop year, the growing region, storage, and your own mash. Where this site shows a range it means it, and it will not print a single confident number in place of one.

Sister site: Winemaking.net, which does the same job for wine.
